#57 Pete & Rich

image

Temple: Sairinji

Dedication: Pete and Rich are a couple I met in Wellington who are in are renovating a house in Mount Cook while they live in the renovations. They are great fun, politically switched on and, most importantly, showed me how to get iPlayer access while I’m away from the UK.

Picture: There are lots of different markers for the path. The one in the top picture consists of two interlocking sankos – an item that Kobo Daishi is often pictured holding. I refer to it as the lightning claw. There are also old stone path markers, red arrows, little pilgrim stickers, arrows with the word henro in, signs with arrows and pilgrim logos and many more. They vary from region to region, sometimes I’ll see hundreds, sometimes hardly any at all.
