Temple: Shoryuji – the main deity is Fudo Myoo, a wisdom king, not a buddha. The buddhas and bodhisattvas are full of compassion and positive attributes but the wisdom kings are a kind of furious monster using wrath for good – this one has a fiery sword. Fun.

Dedication: Stephenie. I walked quite a bit with her today. I was going to have a bed at the end of the night to have a rest but she was carrying on so I hope she has a good night. We walked a few meters in front of or behind each other for a long time and then had a big chat about relationships. She’s got an amazing try-it attitude and is just going for it with the pilgrimage. I’m getting the bus back to Kochi now but I’m sure I’ll run into her again.
